We are launching on June 1st.  I am running a special 6 week transformation program. Just above we announced the 15 people , who had to agree to several stipulations, for this initial program.  However I interviewed over 60 people for those 15 slots.  So what I have decided to do for everyone that wasn’t accepted for the test program, is offer a huge discount on our private group personal training.  And this offer won’t come with all the stipulations that the Beta test program did.

Normally my clients who come 3 times a week for one-on-one training pay $40 a session or $480 a month. I am going to offer my small private group training for 3 times a week for only $25 a session or $300 a month.

Why Women Need Muscle Mass

Hi, I’m Shawna Kaminski, author of Female Fat Loss Over Forty. I’m an expert on fitness and fat loss specifically for women in their 40’s. A common misconception with my clients is that they don’t understand the necessity of resistance training to maintain and build lean muscle mass. Many think that resistance training is only for young men trying to impress the chicks at the beach.

 

Building lean muscle mass is the key to maintaining a feminine physique and looking better than ever.  That’s right, it’s MORE IMPORTANT than doing ‘cardio’!  Here’s why:

1. Muscle Builds Metabolism

Muscle is metabolically active tissue. If you have more muscle, you will burn more calories, even as you sleep. The only way to elevate your resting metabolic rate is to build muscle mass. Any sort of resistance training, including body weight exercises, can accomplish this goal.

4. Muscle Builds Quality of Life

Watching from the sidelines is OK, but being active is the most fun.  Building muscle allows you to ‘keep up with the kids’ and enjoy life, not just watch life pass you by.


5. Muscle is Your Licence to Eat

Muscle mass is essential in lowering and keeping body fat levels down.  Maintaining muscle mass requires calories.  It follows that adding muscle burns more calories, increasing your metabolic rate.  It’s generally accepted that as we age, we gain weight.  What’s really happening is inactivity results in lost muscle tissue, which begins a downward spiral.  Even if the weight scale reads the same, our body shape changes drastically.  As muscle mass declines, body fat climbs.  Your metabolism slows, so you get fatter, eating the same calories as before.  But this trend doesn’t have to happen.  Get training, build some muscle, and stay young, fit, and lean!    

 

 

 

So there you have it!  I have been saying it all along, but now you have heard it from a female over 40 (but just barely and doesn’t look it at all).

Ready for the Beach?

I filmed a little video here from when I was at the beach last weekend for Fitness Business Summit.

Check it out, and feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page.  I also included a couple of exercise pointers that you should read up on.  If you follow the advice it just might improve your work outs.

Most People dont believe me when I tell them that the fastest way to six pack abs is a good resistance (bodyweight or actuall weights) program.   Not doing a thousand crunches.

 

So incorporate exercises like pushups, squats, burpees, mountain climbers and lunges into your workouts, or get on a good weight training program.  Also stop running 5, 6, or 10 miles at a time, if its abs you are wanting.  The long distance steady-state cardio isnt going to get you slammin abs.  Instead running 10-12 wind sprints as hard as you can 2 to 3 times a week is much more effective.

So get in a more intense workout, in half the time and you will see twice the results as long as your intensity is maxed out.
